Through Wild Eyes Stories That Connect Children with Wildlife
Hello, I’m David Álvarez Gil, photographer and author of the project Through Wild Eyes.
I use photography, storytelling, and education to help children connect with wildlife and conservation.
David Álvarez Gil
Photographer & Authororn in Spain, I moved to the United States in 2020, where I work as a bilingual educator in elementary school. Since I was a child, I have been wild about animals.
As an adult, I discovered my love for respectfully photographing animals and have spent many years working as a professional photographer, documenting wildlife in its natural habitat. My work has taken me into remote landscapes where animals live at a critical moment for their survival.
Spending long hours observing, waiting, and photographing has taught me that images can do more than document — they can create connection.
Through children’s books, school visits, photographic galleries, and community partnerships, I share real wildlife stories using authentic imagery, storytelling, and the Spanish language.
By following the lives of individual animals, such as those featured in El lince ibérico: Huellas de esperanza, children discover habitats, family structures, and the daily challenges wildlife faces in a changing world.
My goal is to inspire young readers and communities to care for our planet and protect its inhabitants. Every story shared invites children to become part of a larger narrative of hope and conservation.
Thank you for joining me on this growing journey.
Through Wild Eyes A través de ojos salvajes

Each image is a window into an animal’s world—and a reminder that conservation begins with connection.
